Theo Epstein, the Executive VP and General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, has a net worth of $8.5 Million. Originally from, where else, Boston Epstein comes from a line of successful people. His grandfather and great uncle actually won Academy Awards for the screenplay for Casablanca back in 1943. His father was the head writer of the Creative Writing program at Boston University and his sister was the head writer of two separate TV shows. Theo, in hopes to keep up with the success of his family, went to Yale and was a sports editor.
Eventually becoming the head of PR for the Padres, he has his eyes set on working for Boston. In 2002 that chance came along, when he was appointed to replace the interim GM Mike Port. It is well known that in 2005 he rejected a $1.5 Million a year salary and quit baseball all together for “personal reasons.” Afraid he was going to be hounded by the press, he famously wore a gorilla suit while leaving the stadium (luckily it was Halloween or it would have seemed, ahem, strange). But, in 2006 he was convinced to return to the Red Sox with his hefty $1.5 Million a year salary. Not to shabby for a man walking around in a gorilla suit.
